Wood Ring Repair, Maintenance & Re-Sizing

Wood wedding rings are built to last — but like any piece of jewelry that lives on your hand through daily life, they benefit from occasional care. Whether your ring needs a fresh sealant coat, a polish, a crack repaired, or a full remake in a new size, Marlon Obando Solano handles every service by hand in our Louisville, Kentucky studio.

We stand behind our work with a lifetime maintenance guarantee on all Naturaleza Organic Jewelry rings. And if you have a wood ring from another maker that needs attention, we can help with that too.

Are Wood Rings Durable?

One of the most common questions we hear: are wood wedding rings durable enough for everyday wear?

Yes — when properly constructed and maintained, they are. Each Naturaleza ring is built with reinforced inlays, precision-fitted joinery, and a professional-grade waterproof sealant that fully encapsulates the wood. This sealant is eco-friendly, food-safe, and hypoallergenic, and it protects the wood against light moisture, scratches, and discoloration while preserving the natural grain beneath a matte finish.

That said, wood is an organic material. It responds to its environment over time. Impacts, prolonged chemical exposure, and heat can wear down the sealant or affect the wood itself. The good news: most wear is fully reversible with the right maintenance. For general care guidance, visit our wood ring care page.

Maintenance & Repair Services

We offer the following services for Naturaleza rings at no charge — you cover return shipping only. A gratuity for Marlon's time is always appreciated but never required.

Re-Sealing (Waterproof Sealant Refresh)
Over time and with heavy use, the protective sealant layer on a wood ring can wear thin. A re-seal restores full protection — the wood is cleaned, the existing finish is assessed, and a fresh coat of waterproof sealant is applied. This is the most common maintenance service and the best way to extend the life of any wood ring.

Polishing & Refinishing
Surface scratches, dullness, or worn metal can be addressed through hand polishing. Metal components — gold or sterling silver — are buffed and restored. Wood surfaces are refinished and re-sealed as needed. The result is a ring that looks and feels as close to new as the materials allow.

Wood Crack & Chip Repair
If your wood inlay has developed a crack, chip, or area of separation, we assess the damage and repair it where structurally possible. Some repairs involve filling and re-finishing; others may require replacing a section of the inlay. We'll be honest with you about what's achievable before any work begins.

Metal Repair
Gold and sterling silver components can develop issues over years of wear — loosened inlay edges, bent profiles, or worn contact points. We address metal repairs using the same recycled metals we build our rings with. Learn more about our sustainable materials.

To send your ring in for any of the above, use our Ring Re-Seal, Polish & Repair service listing. Contact us first if you have questions about what your ring needs.

Re-Sizing Wood Rings

Wood rings generally cannot be resized the way metal rings can. Because the wood is structural — not decorative over a metal shank — the ring must be remade in your new size.

This is not as daunting as it sounds. We remake rings using as many of the original materials as possible: the same wood species, the same metal, the same design. In most cases we can reproduce your ring faithfully in the new size. A re-sizing fee applies and the standard production timeline begins once the original ring is received.

If you need a size adjustment, start with our ring size exchange page or contact us to discuss your specific ring before sending it in. Not sure of your size? Our ring sizing guide walks you through how to measure accurately at home, including guidance specific to comfort fit versus flat fit bands.

Lifetime Maintenance Guarantee

Every ring we make comes with a lifetime maintenance guarantee. For the life of your Naturaleza Organic Jewelry ring, we will re-seal, polish, and repair it at no charge. You cover the cost of return shipping to us and back to you, and we take care of everything else.

We do ask — as you might when asking any craftsperson to give their time — that customers consider a gratuity. It is entirely optional, but it is always meaningful.

This guarantee reflects how we build our rings: to last. Not for a season, not for a few years — for a lifetime of wear. Read more about our story and process or browse customer reviews from couples who have been wearing our rings for years.

Wood Ring Repair for Rings Made by Other Artisans

We also accept wood ring repair and refurbishing for rings not made by us — from other independent jewelers, Etsy sellers, or any other maker.

This service is offered for a fee, quoted based on the condition of the ring and the work required. Services available for third-party rings include re-sealing, polishing, refinishing, and crack or chip repair. Metal repair on third-party rings is assessed case by case.

If you have a wood ring from another maker that needs professional attention, contact us with a description and photos of the ring and the issue. We'll let you know what we can do and what it will cost before anything is sent.

We take the same care with a ring we didn't make as we do with our own. Wood is wood — and a well-made ring, whoever built it, deserves to be restored.

Other Jewelry Repair

In addition to wood rings, we offer repair services for other Naturaleza Organic Jewelry pieces — including wood and seed earrings, necklaces, and pendants. If a clasp has failed, a component has broken, or a finish has worn, reach out and we'll assess the repair.
